The Warsaw Rising Museum

The Warsaw Rising Museum (Polish: Muzeum Powstania Warszawskiego) tells visitors a touching story of those who fought and died for independent Poland and its free capital. The exhibition is packed with interactive displays, photographs, films and sound recordings, which guide visitors through the subsequent stages of the Rising. The visitors start off by learning about life under Nazi rule (a tour accompanied by the background rattle of machine guns, bombers, and a thumping heartbeat), and then walk through a mock sewer, a replica radio station, and other halls focusing on the many aspects of the Uprising.

Other parts of the exhibition present the story of Allied airdrops (where visitors can see an exact replica of a Liberator B-24J bomber once used to make supply drops), the creation of a Soviet puppet state, and a touching display about the destruction of the city. Visitors can also view a 5 minute 3-D aerial documentary recreating a picture of the desolation of ‘liberated’ Warsaw in March 1945. At the Museum tower, visitors can view the Freedom Park and the city of Warsaw.

Museum offers audioguide rental and tours in various languages.

Admission on Sundays is free.
